What are the seven challenges Pakistan is facing that the new army chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, could help deal with?

Here’s my list, in seven tweets.

1 Domestic terrorism

2 Terrorism hindering FDI

3 Entanglement with neighbours

4 Pakistani passport 2nd worst for international travel in Visa Index

5 Politically fragile climate

6 Extremism/group violence in all shades

7 Photoshop becoming national art, Whatsapp national medium

This is not an exhaustive list.

At places, you may need to involve energies from civilian governments. On other occasions, a mere executive decision may do.

Other than security (external and internal on limited scale) non of the tasks you have listed are for army chief. It would be better if we could differentiate the roles of political and defence establishment.
