Pakistan 5th largest recipient of US aid this year


Pakistan is the fifth largest recipient of American aid in fiscal 2017, according to a report in The Washington Post.

Pakistan will receive a total of $742.2 million, of which $422.5 million is humanitarian aid and $319.7 million is military aid.

PS: On 3 August, the Pentagon withheld $300 million in military assistance to Pakistan.

It is the first time the Obama administration has withheld military aid to Pakistan because of the Haqqani group, which has been a primary source of US concern in Afghanistan.
